Song of the Day: "The Greatest"

Ryan Reynolds is dead, in The Pool Boy

This track from their Grammy winning Sound and Color album came on during my drive home from Deadpool. The chaos of the song on a sunny afternoon had me driving like a guy who drives on interstates... in sunny weather.

That doesn't sound right.

But what can you do? Chinatown.*

Quote of the Day

"If you go to a photographer to take pictures at your wedding, [and the photographer says], I’d rather not do it, find another photographer. Don’t sue them in court."--Gov. John Kasich, R-OH via Slate
Yeah, you stupid minorities with no one locally who is willing to support you, just get another photographer. Or find another funeral home. Or another physician. Another hospital. Or lawyer. Or tax professional. Another pharmacy. Or landscape architect. Or credit card imprinting machine repair person.

It's your own fault for being a minority It's about the freedom to hate. It's in the Constitution, probably.

And it's what makes America so awesome.

Song of the Day: "Get Out"

I'm optimistic about the forthcoming Frightened Rabbit album, Painting of a Panic Attack, but it's entirely likely that I'm assuming a therapeutic value to it, the way "Boxing Night", "Home From War" or "Swim Until You Can't See Land" have emotionally taken root in my system. I'm open to the idea of them handling my mental "stability" for a bit (The National and Mountain Goats are also welcome to have the helm).

But it's also possible I was just happy misunderstanding the email I got from them wherein I took a reference to Rough Trade to mean they'd left Atlantic Records (there are many good reasons to sign with a major record label... possibly... but "making the music you want to make and controlling how that sounds" is not really one of them). They remain with Atlantic and I'm sure no A&R person ever asked them to try to sound like rock artists that were really popular 2 to 3 years ago.  Since they're Scots we could look at the 2013 UK sales charts and we might see Arctic Monkeys and Bastille sold really well. I'm sure we won't hear anything like either that didn't just organically happen.

Positive of that, really, because I live in an era where data isn't as important as conviction. And so do you, by the way, so do you.

The Best Words

Remember how I fixate on Donald Trump's Drumpf's vocabulary? Saying things like:
"Her storytelling ability and word usage (coming from me, who has written many bestsellers), is not at a very high level."--Ted Bundy Donald Trump Drumpf

He's been speaking at a third grade reading level for at least the last five years. And that point is made perfectly in this clip via Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

We're all going to quit tomorrow.

Unless we quit sooner, I'm guessing.
