2014 Singles #20 through #11

#20 Brett Eldredge "Beat of the Music"
Now you're walking up asking me to dance
Smiling that smile and reaching out your hand

Wonder how paranoid Kenny Chesney is of Brett. Seems like he delivers the Parrothead country music a bit more authentically. Still, Kenny is welcome to come hang out with me any time he's ready to settle down (I've always had a thing for bald guys).

#19 Stars "No One is Lost"
Another life, another weekend
Another message checker looking for a friend
Stars confront mortality at the club. Looming death is nearly as satisfying as break up music.

#18 Cloud Nothings "I'm Not a Part of Me"
I'm moving toward a new idea, you're not what I really needed
Now you could just leave me on my own, but...
Cloud Nothings go lo-fi which is socially acceptable these days.

#17 Robin Thicke "Get Her Back"
I should have kissed you longer
I should have held you stronger
Robin Thicke got the sadz, so he picked up his rhyming dictionary, took off his shirt and vowed to get Paula back. So far it hasn't worked. I guess he'll need to take the pants off too.

#16 Hozier "Take Me to Church"
I'll worship like a dog at the shrine of your lies
I'll tell you my sins so you can sharpen your knife
Chalk one more up to ubiquity.

#15 Cascada "Blink"
I don’t want to blink, I can’t close my eyes
These are the best years of our lives
There are many reasons I call The Fabulous Clinton fabulous. His knowledge of crucial club music is merely one of them.

#14 Michael Jackson/Justin Timberlake "Love Never Felt So Good"
Oh, baby, love never felt so fine
And I'd die if it's never mine
And he did. (One wonders the future ways the surviving members of the pedophile's family will sell his "legacy"--I'm waiting for a kitchen cleaner commercial.)

#13 Ariana Grande "Problem"
Head in the clouds
Got no weight on my shoulders
I'm not mentioning her collaborator here, but it's worth noting that this is Ariana's second appearance (so far) on my singles list.

#12 Roddy Frame "White Pony"
So go try on the night
The dress, the shoes, the gaze
I didn't realize this was partially inspired by the death of John Hughes. Damn boy. Oh this is Roddy's second and final appearance on the 2014 list.

#11 Meghan Trainor "All About The Bass"
Yeah it's pretty clear, I ain't no size two
But I can shake it, shake it like I'm supposed to do
Largemouth bass are the most popular game fish in North America.
