Song of the Day: "Chemical Reaction"

Hilary Grist is back (her adorable single and adorable-r video for "Waltzing Matilda" made my top 50 singles for 2013) with a new album and this track rated song of the day from Vancouver Music Review so let's give it a try.

Not bad.

Actually quite nice. She reminds me of a melange of these great singer/songwriter types from the late 90s, none of whose names I can recall just now. Or a happy Jane Siberry.

I like Jane Siberry.

Song of the Day: "Blink"

The Fabulous Clinton is always fabulous. Like yesterday when I asked for suggestions for Smith's traveling music. BAM, Cascada "San Francisco."

Sadly it was too late to make it to one of the 17 discs I burned for him. Maybe next move.

Still, Cascada, nice. This is their latest single from March. Nice.

Or should I say fabulous?

This is Red Wanting Blue.

I wonder what Blue wants.

Song of the Day: "Michelle"

How's your Swedish? If it's as good as mine you'll just have to trust me that I commissioned this charming ambient tune for my mother. And I'm pleased with what 1987 (that's the moniker the dude from Montauk [the band] is using for his solo stuff). I graduated from college in 1987. Shit I am old.

If you weren't born yet in 1987, bless your heart for even reading this.

Either way, check out the song, it's rather lovely. I recommend it laying on a blanket staring up at some clouds.

Song of the Day: "Giants"

Ben Cohen, a muscle bear of sorts--and he has hands
When we last discussed Bear Hands it was 2011 and we were recapping 2010 singles. Now it's 2014 and I'm still waiting on my 2010 tax return. And my 2011 tax return.

I did just get my Oregon amended return refund from 2010, that was sweet.

Here's to Bear Hands, amended tax refunds and Ben Cohen shirtless, in no particular order. Carry on.
