Song of the Day: "Magic"

I'm oblivious to the new Radiohead Coldplay, so I thought I'd post something. They made an effort with the video (Grammy and VMA winning director Jonas Akerland; starring Zhang Ziyi) and I think I have heard this, now that I listen. I should get this from the liberry.

Flashback Song: "Tear Me Down"

I'm still grooving on Hedwig. Here's Meatloaf's take on a song quasi-inspired by him.

Here's NPH out of costume tackling the song pre-opening.

And here's Portland's own School of Rock tackling the song. SoR will be playing in Peninsula Park on June 26th as part of an evening celebrating kids and the park: past, present and future.

Flashback Song: "Wig in a Box"

Big Gay John doesn't care for Hedwig. I adore Hedwig. He wished for this as the song performed at the Tonys. He didn't get it, so here it is, for him. And you.

This counts as a Christmas present. First the Tony and 4-time Emmy winner, Neil Patrick Harris, from the newly released cast album.

Here's the track from the 2001 movie release (John Cameron Mitchell was woefully unloved at awards time).

"Suddenly I'm Miss Farah Fawcett on TV"

BONUS: This might be the performance of Hedwig John saw in Seattle.

Vindication? Redemption? Just respect?

Michael Keaton IS Birdman, albeit not Harvey Birdman Attorney at Law.

See you at the theater in October.

I've been grooving on The Pretenders today and realized I could stream the new Chrissie Hynde (her first solo album) via Hoopla.  It rocks.

And I'm now realizing that I haven't knighted her yet, so I now bequeath her the title Sir Chrissie Hynde.

Rock on rocker chick.

Song of the Day: "My Silver Lining"

Swedish mood folk (yes, it's a genre [so far as you know]) from First Aid Kit. I like the owl in the video. I hated Silver Linings Playbook. And Scent of a Woman. And that other movie, the one with the people.

Song of the Day: "Come Get it Bae"

Pharrell and Miley garnered 6 slots in my top 50 singles for 2013 so their combined forces are sure to find a spot at the end of 2014.

This song's already wormed its way into my head via a tv commercial for something like Gatorade or Nike. It'll be top 35 for sure.

Song of the Day: "I Don't Know You Anymore"

I am being slothful thus far (I mean, The Summer of George of Rich starts tomorrow, so I'm not being slothful, Judge Judy) so I haven't posted any Tony nominated songs. Neil Patrick Harris and Bryan Cranston each add Tonys to their multiple Emmys. Completely unrelated to that, big gay rock icon Bob Mould continues to rock my world. The more cynical, the better.

Also Hedwig fucking rocks. I want to see Hedwig with Bob Mould. I wish that Genie from Aladdin.
