Song of the Day: "Try Me On"

Fun fact: Karmin is not Kreayshawn.

Funner fact: Madonna looks great in this video.

If you know this song but don't know how you know this song you must watch The Daily Show and Colbert on Hulu (or possibly just watch Hulu). It's the Dasani drops commercial song. Which I love. So shut up.

The Crystal Method are back... or possibly never left.

Either way, hooray.

Song of the Day: "Passing Out Pieces"

Pitchfork's write-up on this single struck a chord with me.
What ma don't know is taking its toll on me
Some people (Becky) might find my fondness for gritty singer-songwriter types to be a bit poseur-y. Those people are invited to suck my cock. Well, not the girls.

Song of the Day: "What Doesn't Kill You"

I'm glad I decided to listen to more Jake Bugg. When last we spoke of him, on his inclusion on the Mercury Prize shortlist, I wrote about Nick Drake as an influence.

Here it's clearly The Jam meets Arctic Monkeys. Which is totally not a bad thing.

Song of the Day: "Defeated No More"

Recent music from Disclose featuring Edward Macfarlane. I have no idea who that is.

Song of the Day: "Something"

I like it when I listen to Grammy winning songs and they're genuinely good. It shouldn't be as surprising as it is, but it is.

Snarky Puppy, a jazz combo formed in Denton TX (I will go out on a limb and assume that some of them may have met at UT Denton since it has a well regarded music program--their One O'Clock Lab Band has received 6 Grammy nominations) and now residing in Brooklyn (hey, it was that or Portland), collaborated with Lalah Hathaway on Hathaway's song "Something" (duh). Here's what Wikipedia said:

Her performance in Snarky Puppy's 'Something' garnered widespread attention and praise due to her astonishing ability to sing multiple notes at one time.
What does that even mean?

Anyway, this will play at every brunch I host from now until infinity, if I ever host a brunch.

Song of the Day: "Clarity"

If you aren't savvy to the world of time zone delays then I am a genius who predicts this song will upset Daft Punk's "Get Lucky" for the Best Dance Recording Grammy.

Finally something for Pharrell to not be elated about.
