Song of the Day: "Coming Home"

Boy George is back as part of the Dharma Protocol.

It's a testament to my love for her that my first thought on hearing this was "I miss Helen Terry."

Song of the Day: "I Heard Your Voice in a Dream"

Jeremy Jordan from Smash
Not Jeremy Jordan from Smash
The song is nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Music and Lyrics, from Smash. The nominee is Andrew McMahon from Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin (and a solo artist) and this song surprised me with its very un-musical-ness.

The singer is Jeremy Jordan who starred in Newsies on Broadway and apparently did The Little Dog Laughed as some point (so, you know, penis!). It is NOT Jeremy Jordan who was kinda hot early in the 90s and then, you know, meth.

The more you know...

Song of the Day: "Nothing In This World Will Ever Break My Heart Again"

It's Emmy nominations day--this nom from Nashville is fine, but c'mon... "Rural Juror." And also, Alan Menken, mediocrity's scribe, could finish EGOT. So take that, talented musicians.

Still, lovely song.

Song of the Day: "Drakkar Noir"

This seems like a good visual
for Drakkar Noir
Phoenix from Bankrupt! I've been in line to get in from the library for months now (I'm #87 currently) but decided I could start listening to it in some post-Spotify a la carte manner (Spotify was working my fucking nerves with its need to share every last fucking detail about my musical consumption).

Here are some things you may not know about Drakkar Noir the fragrance:
1. The bottle is not meant to be a single application. If you put on the whole bottle, you have used too much.
2. No, seriously, it's not a single application.
3. It was the 1985 FiFi Award for Most Successful Men's Fragrance (Limited). In 2009 McGraw by Tim McGraw won Men's Fragrance of the Year Broad Appeal (Popular Appeal). Obviously I have a new awards thing I need to obsess over (take 5 Liza).
4. I'm not a big fragrance-wearing type person but I will admit to Drakkar (we're on a first name basis) being one that I've used in the past. It fell in between Stetson and Hugo Boss. I'm still working through some Hugo Boss stuff I got at a duty-free shop coming back into the states from Canada, in like 1996.

Song of the Day: "Head On"

Man Men?

This great track from Man Man is a reminder of how much I miss YRock online. I used to get all kinds of Philly musical love like this via the series of tubez. Now I'm forced to pay attention to find stuff on my own.

This is from On Oni Pond, their fifth album.

Song of the Day: "Burn"

Wow that was a weird weekend. I am not sure I got anything done but I did grocery shop and sleep.

But I did not blog.

So let's resume, now with Ellie Goulding who is a person, as you may or may not know.
