Song of the Day: "Love Me Again"

There's been a flurry of activity today. Comcast (AGAIN!), $10 worth of cock from Kelly & Joe's yard sale, brunch with Jackie and Jalen and an unpronouncable dessert, struggles with my thermoat, a very sweaty nap, a birthday party, a trip to the 'couv, a trip to Jubitz and a trip BACK to the 'couv and then, on my drive home, I thought "crap, forgot to blog."

And then, like an angel sent from club heaven (or Club Heaven), the Fabulous Clinton (who is fabulous), mentioned this song on the Facebooks and viola, song of the day.

You're welcome blog readers, and thank you TFC.

Song of the Day: "You (Ha Ha Ha)"

Charli XCX wrote that Icona Pop song you're already annoyed by, "I Love It (I Don't Care)". Her name came up yesterday when Wharton Rob was enthusing about Union Transfer in Philly as a music venue--"good line of sight" and "former Spaghetti Warehouse"--what's not to love?!

He said he saw Charli there (I'm either calling her Charli or CXCX, take your pick) and suddenly here she is as SOTD.

This isn't a boating accident.

Or a coincidence.

Song of the Day: "Ya Hey"

A re-imagining of Outkast's "Hey Ya"?

Nope.

Just another weekend with the vampires...

Song of the Day: "Vocal"

I'll be seeing Pet Shop Boys on my birthday which may or may not also be the birthday of future gnephew for J-rod and Bird.

I'm going to push for Pet Shop Boy Shellaway.

It's got a ring to it.

Song of the Day: "On Sight"

Becky fucking hates Kanye. And every time I listen to a track from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy I think the man's a fucking genius. Every time.

Tedious, for sure.

Self-aggrandizing: totes.

Obnoxious? YES!

But a fucking genius.

This is the first track from Yeezus. Kanye says he'd rather be a Dick than a Swallower.

Take it from me K, you can be both.

I listen to this track and I think it's a fake--the opening track from Yeezus is supposedly 1 of 3 produced by Daft Punk. This is a mess, it's noise, it's repellent. But around 1:30 Kanye asks "how much do I not give a fuck?" and I feel like it's legit.

Rolling Stone compares the album to In Utero or Kid A. Actually, comparatively, Rolling Stone says Yeezus makes those sound like Bruno Mars. This one may repel me, but I'm keeping Kanye in the genius column, despite his impregnating a Kardashian.

North is a fucking great name if your last name's West.

Song of the Day: "The One Who Loves You Now"

She's one of the A's in ABBA.

And you're not.

Unless you're Frida Lyngstad, in which case, "hey."

R.I.P. Gary David Goldberg

He created Family Ties, Spin City and Brooklyn Bridge (one of those shows, like Frank's Place, that I recall being critically acclaimed but don't recall). He won Emmys for writing an episode of Lou Grant and for the "A My Name is Alex" episode of Family Ties that won Michael J. Fox his second Emmy (as well as DGA, WGA and Humanitas awards). The episode, a 2-parter, includes extended scenes with just Fox, limited commercial interruptions and is clearly a drama in comedy clothing. The AV Club recognizes both its cheesiness and its landmark quality (here). I recall loving it and would rather not risk having that changed, so I won't be watching it again. Just like Million Dollar Baby.

And I'm pretty sure his dog was Ubu.

Rest in peace dude.

Song of the Day: "This Disorder"

My intro to The Features is this recent single. Apparently they're the relatively underhyped shit these days. Them and possibly Local Natives.
