Song of the Day: "Back in Your Arms Again"

The Mavericks
The Mavericks ended a 7-year hiatus with In Time, their seventh studio album.

It's got a pretty respectable Metacritic rating of 86 which puts them right between new releases from Daft Punk and Vampire Weekend, score wise.

That's the vicious cycle

People do do this kind of thing.

Song of the Day: "Beat This Summer"

Another track from Brad Paisley's Wheelhouse. Unlike "Accidental Racist" this one seems to be flying under the radar.

That really was something of a train wreck.

Sadly today is not a good day for me to spend a lot of time trying to find pics of Brad in a too tight t-shirt showing off his lovely biceps. You'll need to Google (or Bing) for that.

Songs of the Day: "When I'm Gone (Cups)"/"Cups (When I'm Gone)"

If you're like me, and we know you're not, you don't know Lulu and the Lampshades from the Ladies who Lunch. But since you're NOT like me, enjoy this song via Anna Kendrick and Lulu and the Lampshades as commanded by Big Gay John.

Song of the Day: "Pocket Change"

Ryan Kwanten, genuinely
loosely affiliated with
this song

I started to post the new Ciara single, but it was just too exhausting. So much crap for such little genuine enjoyment.

Instead I'm going with a new track from Alabama Shakes.

And since it's from True Blood that gives me a reasonable excuse for posting a picture of Ryan Kwanten.

Song of the Day: "Hittite Man"

I wasn't sitting around and thinking "what's Mark E. Smith up to these days?" He's crossed my path (metaphorically, I'm not name dropping [this time]) recently and I'll paint The Fall with the same brush I currently use to paint the Pixies with. The "I don't get it" brush. Some of you might note that I've changed my take on the Pixies. Once I hated them. Now I assume I lack some gene or other trait required to celebrate their genius. But since I love 4 or 5 of their songs (if you're a Pixies fan pick the 5 tracks that scream "poser" the loudest) I've decided it's more fun to hang with all the cool kids and group the band with Roxette and Third Eye Blind because some buttons are big and easily pushed.

What does this have to do with The Fall? Exactly.

Oh, it might help if I mention that metacritic or someplace similar said The Fall have been turning out some of the best stuff of their career over the past few years.

Wait a minute, I get what that really means. That is subtle.

Song of the Day: "Grown Woman"

Here's what's weird to me about this new track from Beyonce: I don't think anyone is suggesting that she's not a grown woman.

She hardly seems like someone who needs to assert independence. Or am I missing something.
