Song of the Day: "Season in Hell"

I used to think Dum Dum Girls got their name from a Talk Talk song, but apparently it's from an Iggy Pop thing instead. *THE MORE YOU KNOW*

Song of the Day: "Beat This Summer"

Remember how I was all cuckoo for the new Brad Paisley? Here's another track from that.

Song of the Day: "This is the Beginning"

D brought in a couple of new discs including the debut from Boy (note, they are not a U2 tribute band).

The album won the European Border Breakers Award which is, apparently, a thing.

And while they sound like Feist singing with Mary Chapin Carpenter, if you like those 2 singers, that is a good thing, right?

Right.

Vengeance of the memes

(h/t Jill via The Verge)

I believe we have a winner for the internet for today.

Any length for a pun

One of the things I love most about Mr. Peabody & Sherman was the lengths to which the writers would go for a pun. That's wonderfully true for Saturday's cold opener for SNL.

At least they're not dancing about architecture

(h/t I Love Charts via McSweeney's)

Ben Greenman has an ongoing series of posts at McSweeney's called Graphs About Charts and Charts About Graphs. For some reason that reminds me of the quote "talking about music is like dancing about architecture" which may or may not have come from Martin Mull originally.

The content of the Venn diagram does not remind me of that quote, but the quote was in my head when I started this blog post. And here we are.

Song of the Day: "Starting Over"

Clark was enthusing about Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's appearance on SNL the other night. He recommended "Can't Hold Us" which is a better single but charted back in 2011.

This track, featuring dude from Band of Horses, will have to do.

There's poignancy and optimism in the song. As a Libra, I'm required to balance. Best friend/worst enemy.

But always twirling.
