Song of the Day: "Bombs Away"

I'm pretty sure Eels (or eels or EELS) is a dude, not a band.

Nope, I'm wrong. It's a dude named E but there are other members.

Also E has something to do with Parthenon Huxley which I'm sure we're all too young to remember. I mean, you'd have to have been working in college radio in the late 80s and none of us qualify...

Knowing your meme: Harlem Shake edition

(h/t After Elton)
Adam at work tried to explain the Harlem Shake to some of us last week. I might have paid more attention if he'd used gratuitous beefcake as a visual aid.

Song of the Day: "The Living Layer"

Are you burned out on Efterklang yet?

Phew, just in time.

They might be what Sigur Rós would sound like with shorter songs in English.

Or not.

This is a really lovely track, so enjoy.

Song of the Day: "Send Me Down"

Haim is 3 sisters with the last name Haim (what a coincidence, am I right?) and the name rhymes with "rhyme" (so cool!) and the style is described as nu-folk–meets–nineties–R&B.

Take that, um, whoever. Maybe Beck.

Or Cat Powers.

Or Cat Stevens.

All of them, really.

Song of the Day: "2013"

I was so busy with all the fun that I missed a post yesterday. Outrage!

I need to get back into my blogging mojo. Even the song posts are weak.

Weak I say!

Hey look, new Primal Scream.

Song of the Day: "Tonight I'm Getting Over You"

Carly Rae Jepsen might be simply trying to become Taylor Swift Jr.

Or the club version of Taylor Swift.

Or not. Whatever, fuck, it's early and I have to go sell propane at Mega-Lo-Mart. It's Mega-Lo-Monday so I need to get my vest and go in early and greet customers. It's what I do.

Song of the Day: "You Can't Fix This"

I'm drawn in part to this collaboration between Stevie Nicks and Dave Grohl's recent project The Sound City Players because I imagine, in some way, it pisses Courtney Love off.

The song was written by Ms. Nicks (why not) after the death of her god son.

I don't think Courtney had anything to do with that death, but one never knows.
