Song of the Day: "Empire"

If I call Rococode a cross between Metric and Radiohead some people might think I mean it as an insult. Those people are assholes. Fuck those people.

This is a good song.

And the Roco's are coming to Portland in 2 weeks: Kelly's Olympian. Sadly I'll be across the river at Frightened Rabbits, but you can still go.

Song of the Day: "A Tattered Line of String"

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of Give Up, The Postal Service are releasing a special edition including 15 bonus tracks. Among the bonuses are a cover of "Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now)" and this, 1 of 2 new songs.

You probably want to hear the Phil Collins cover.

Song of the Day: "Knock Me On The Head"

One of my favorite discoveries from 2010, Stornoway return with Tales From Terra Firma.

I'm very excited about this even if this track lacks the immediate joy induced by "Zorbing" or "Watching Birds." So I'm gonna play it cool a little.

FWIW, it's better than Kenny Chesney.

"Franklin Eleanor Roosevelt!"

National treas-eur Dina Martina celebrates the holiest of America holidays.

I made this video myself, which is why it is so excellent.

Song of the Day: "I Remember You"

I think one of the saddest things about my friends who are into music is how much they're totally not really into music any more. Case in point: OMG OMG OMG we all love the Blue Nile and yet, somehow, a solo album from the dude from the BN comes out MONTHS AGO and whom do I hear it from? Not them.

Exactly.

Some dude in Australia.

AUSTRALIA.

The only thing worse is listening to the song fragments that are Buchanan's audio sketch book and wondering what could be if 7 of them got teased out into real, heart-breaking Blue Nile songs.

Way to disappoint me, ALL OF YOU (including Australia, are you even a continent or just a really large island off by itself?).

Song of the Day: "Pontoon"

I'm sure this band, whatever their name is, were signed solely on their own merits and not in some rush to capitalize on the success of Lady Antebellum.

TOTALLY SURE OF IT.

And they won a Grammy.
