This is Gotye, who is a dude, not a band (Wouter "Wally" De Backer). And it sounds a lot like The Police to me, which is why I find myself confused as to why some lesser Police track is getting all kinds of radio play these days.

Wait, he's from Belgium but now lives in Australia (not Austria).
It won the ARIA (the Australian Grammy) for Single of the Year (and I was hoping it would be the unreleased voice mail from Bon Iver complaining about his hotel room--I was really rooting for that).
