I was going to post a new track from Tim McGraw, since I enjoyed him in The Blind Side, but I just couldn't do it. "Southern Voice" is, what's the phrase... "a complete piece of shit"? That sounds right. So I tried the new Lee Ann Womack, to see what I'll be hearing at my next 8 dentist appointments. Do you people understand the crap I endure to curate these posts? What's worse than her song "There is a God"? I'll tell you, the fucking sappy homemade video to accompany it AND the comments. Who, in their right mind, thinks that the comments section on a country singer's crappy fan-made video page is the right place to hold a religion vs. science debate about the creation of the planet? It is 6:30 in the morning and I shouldn't be this pissed off about something non-political yet. Seriously.
So here's what I decided on: Patty Loveless. I like Patty based on the brilliance of "Blame It On Your Heart." She's basically a B/B- country singer with a strong voice, but overly preoccupied with being a big "young country" artist. And then she got off that merry-go-round and made an album called Mountain Soul, which was a straight-up bluegrass record. It was a critical successful for her, and because no success can go un-copied, now she has Mountain Soul II. Not "Return To The Mountain" or "Another Climb" or some shit like that. No. Mountain Soul II. I hate people. Here's Patty Loveless, you WON'T be hearing this at the dentist. Unless you live in the holler, and the dentist is also the mailman (or -woman).
